Every
experience you attend to with consciousness contributes to what you are.
The subconscious part of brain may work in parallel, but the conscious part of the brain, where you attend to an experience, attend to an idea you have, is a single-threaded machine.
When you attend to a thing, you are devoted to it, you allow it to change you – the experience of you attending to the idea would change the you that is the sum of all your experiences. You don’t unsee or forget what is seen, you don’t ignore or restore what is done. Anything that is brought to your attention becomes part of you forever.
So only do the stuff you wanted most. So if you don’t like an idea, don’t think on it; if you don’t like a work, don’t work on it. It’s essential that you do and only do stuff you like, stuff you want it to be part of you. We all have limited resources, limited time and energy, and we don’t always get to do the thing we liked the most in the world, but make sure that you have been the greediest in this direction-you are doing the stuff that, given the resources you have and condition you are in, is the the stuff you wanted most in all that you are capable of.
