secret hitler
Table of Contents
Secret Hitler is a boardgame. Players in the game are politicians in Germany after WWI, and are either facists or liberals, individually. One of the player would be Hitler(while being a facist).
1. How it works
1.1. goal of players
- liberals
- kill hitler, or enact 5 liberal policies
- facist
- enact 6 facist policies, or select hitler as chancellor after 3 facist policies are enacted.
1.2. initial setup
- 2 boards for policy progress of both parties (facist 0/6, liberal 0/5)
- all policies (6 liberal, 11 facist) in the draw pile. no policy in the discard pile
- each player been given their secret identity(libera, facist or hitler) and vote cards (ja, nein)
1.3. game process
Stages of the game are:
- cycle president(clockwise)
- president select a chancellor to form a government
- politicians vote for this government; if it passed, enter next stage; if not pass, go back to stage 1
- president draw 3 policies from top of draw pile, and discard 1 of them into discard pile, then pass the rest 2 to chancellor
- chancellor discard 1 of the 2 and place the other on the policy progress (facist or liberal)
- discussion, then go back to stage 1

SH:framing
In secret hitler, framing could happen when:
- 1 - chancellor is given 2 fascist while president clain 1 facist 1 liberal
- 2 - chancellor is given 1 fascist 1 libearl but claim to be given 2 facist
As fascists are aware of each other, it is unlikely they’d fame one another, so we ignore the case where both of them are facists
- In scenario 1, president would be the facist, trying to pass a fascist policy, without claiming to have drawn 3 fascist policies(which would lower their government credit)
- In scenario 2, chancellor would be the facist trying to pass a fascist policy when given a choice.
In either way, one of the government would be a fascist and hence both would lose almost all credibility(there’s no way to tell which one is the fascist), hence it is almost a credibility-facist policy trade-off.
