qualitative signal
Table of Contents
Signal of some qualitative property of some system changing state.
Used by human in intuitive practice a lot, like lock points in archery1, or to stop cooking chicken when it’s thoroughly white.
1. counting qualitative signal
I would argue that human is unable to detect quantiative signals(like angle between their elbow and forearm), only qualitative signal and they simulate quantative signals with conting quanlitative signals.
2. types
- finish - when the candle runs out …
- compare - when moon is higher than sun …
- dominance - when most of you can see is the green cells …
- assert truth - when hand and face have met …
- …
3. sampling
for man to pick up a quanlititative signal, they sometimes have to sample lots of it to have a reliable set off in the range ()
Footnotes:
archers tends to use various lock points including (back of hand, jaw edge), (straight line of left arm and right elbow), (shoulder blade went to furtherest point), (arrow points a stain on the target) to ensure consistent shooting stance and position. When all lock points are checked, the archer’s body is likely to be in the “ready state” which hopefully would be consistent enough so arrows would end up in the same spot.
